Ranchi, Aug 1: The Ranchi Municipal Corporation (RMC) has directed officials to conduct a detailed inspection of new and commercial buildings in Upper Bazar as part of efforts to address encroachment, parking misuse and violations of building regulations.

Municipal Commissioner Sushant Gaurav issued the directions during an inspection of the city’s prominent commercial area. He reviewed conditions at several locations, including the stretch from Shani Temple on Harmu Road to Court Sarai Road, the Shri Ram Janki Temple premises, Jalan Road, the West Market–North Market Road and Churuwala Gali.

Officials were asked to examine whether mandatory setback areas had been encroached upon, designated parking spaces were being used for unauthorised purposes and construction activities complied with approved building plans and municipal norms. The civic body has directed departments concerned to identify irregularities and initiate action in accordance with applicable rules. The inspection is part of a broader plan to improve the management and infrastructure of Upper Bazar, which is one of Ranchi’s major commercial centres.

The municipal administration is preparing a phased development strategy to improve traffic movement, parking facilities, public safety and the overall appearance of the area. The proposed plan also aims to make the commercial hub more organised and accessible for traders, residents, customers and visitors.

The Municipal Commissioner said Upper Bazar holds an important place in Ranchi’s commercial landscape and that the civic body intends to develop it into a better-planned commercial zone with modern public facilities. The RMC is expected to review the inspection findings before taking further action against violations and finalising the next stages of the development plan.
