Nawada, July 29: In a swift operation, the Bihar Police solved the horrific kidnapping, rape, and murder of an eight-year-old girl in Nawada district within 24 hours, arresting the prime accused who has since confessed to the heinous crime.
The victim was abducted around 8:00 p.m. on July 27 while returning home after purchasing a pen from a local store in the Pakribarawan police station area.
According to police officials, the accused kidnapped the minor and subjected her to sexual assault. To muffle her screams during the assault, he stuffed mud into her mouth before strangling her to death to conceal his identity. The victim’s body was later recovered from an agricultural field adjacent to Devdha village, sending shockwaves across the region.
Following a written complaint lodged by the victim’s distraught family on the night of the incident, the police registered FIR No. 336/26 and launched an immediate, high-priority investigation.
Acting on precise human intelligence and technical inputs, police teams nabbed the main suspect within 24 hours. The arrested individual has been identified as Raghunandan Manjhi, alias Tetyi Manjhi, a resident of nearby Lakhanpura village and son of Vitan Manjhi.
During custodial interrogation, Manjhi confessed to the entire sequence of events, admitting that he committed the murder to prevent the child from identifying him. He has since been produced before a court and remanded to judicial custody.
Addressing the media at a press conference, Nawada Superintendent of Police Abhinav Dhiman confirmed the breakthrough and underscored the department’s commitment to delivering swift justice.
“The police acted with urgency to crack the case and arrest the perpetrator,” SP Dhiman stated. “Efforts will be made to ensure the accused receives the harshest punishment possible through a speedy trial in this heinous crime.”
Police confirmed that further legal proceedings and gathering of forensic evidence are underway to build a watertight case for the trial.
