New Delhi, July 23: A group of Supreme Court lawyers recited the Preamble to the Constitution on the lawns of the apex court on Thursday in a show of solidarity with students protesting at Jantar Mantar over alleged irregularities in the examination system and police action against demonstrators.
The recitation took place during the court’s lunch recess as part of the “Save Democracy, Save Constitution” campaign.
Senior advocates Indira Jaising and S. Muralidhar led the gathering, while Supreme Court Bar Association President and senior advocate Vikas Singh was also present.

The lawyers collectively read the Preamble, reaffirming the constitutional values of “justice, liberty, equality and fraternity” amid the continuing protests in the national capital.
Among those who participated were senior advocates Anand Grover, Anjana Prakash, Sanjay Ghose, Shadan Farasat, Arundhati Katju, Mahalakshmi Pavani, Nandita Rao, P.V. Surendranath, Manali Singhal, Sangeetha Bharti, P.V. Dinesh and Jayant Thakur, along with advocate Vrinda Grover and several other members of the Bar.
The event formed part of the broader “Save Democracy, Save Constitution” campaign, under which lawyers gathered to express support for the student movement while reaffirming constitutional principles.
