Ranchi, July 22: Chief Minister Hemant Soren on Wednesday assured full government support for the development of Jharkhand’s film industry during a meeting with nationally and internationally acclaimed award-winning filmmakers at the Jharkhand Secretariat, reaffirming the state’s commitment to nurturing local talent and promoting its rich cultural heritage through cinema.
The meeting focused on measures to strengthen the film ecosystem in Jharkhand, encourage emerging filmmakers and position the state as a preferred destination for film production.
Filmmakers Biju Toppo, Seral Murmu, Niranjan Kujur, Ravi Raj Murmu, Anuj Kumar and Mansingh Baske attended the meeting and shared details of their films, achievements and national and international accolades. They also offered suggestions for promoting film production in the state, creating employment opportunities for local artists and developing Jharkhand as an emerging film destination.
Praising the filmmakers for bringing laurels to the state, Soren said their achievements had enhanced Jharkhand’s cultural identity on national and global platforms.
“It is a matter of great pride for all of Jharkhand that artists, directors and filmmakers from our state are making a strong presence felt on national and international platforms,” the Chief Minister said.
Reiterating the government’s commitment to the sector, Soren said all possible support would be extended to accelerate the growth of the state’s film industry.
“The state government will provide all possible support to take Jharkhand to new heights in the field of film development,” he said.
The Chief Minister announced that the government would simplify procedures related to film production and shooting in the state while introducing technical training programmes for aspiring filmmakers and young professionals.
“The processes of film production and shooting in the state will be further simplified,” Soren said.
He added, “Technical training will be arranged to teach the nuances of cinema to the youth and provide better platforms and opportunities to local talent.”
Highlighting the role of cinema in preserving and promoting the state’s heritage, Soren said films could serve as a powerful medium to showcase Jharkhand’s unique art, culture and tribal traditions to audiences across India and abroad.
“Through the powerful medium of film, Jharkhand’s rich art, culture and tribal heritage can be showcased to every corner of the country and the world,” he said.
Assuring continued support to the creative community, the Chief Minister said, “The government stands with artists every step of the way so that they can continue to bring glory to the state through their art.”
