Ranchi, July 22 : Jharkhand is set to become the first state in eastern India to launch government-backed Aircraft Maintenance Engineering (AME) and Air Hostess training programmes, marking a significant step towards strengthening aviation education and skill development in the region.
The courses will be inaugurated by Chief Minister Hemant Soren on November 15. They will be conducted at the Jharkhand Flying Institute in Dhanbad under the Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model. For the AME programme, the institute has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Delhi-based M/s Venyor, while AISECT Limited, Bhopal, will conduct the Air Hostess training programme.
According to the state government, the initiative will benefit aspiring aviation professionals not only from Jharkhand but also from neighbouring states such as Bihar, West Bengal, Odisha and Chhattisgarh, reducing the need to travel to distant states for specialised aviation training.
The three-year AME course will have an intake of 60 students, with a total fee of ₹6 lakh, payable in three annual instalments of ₹2 lakh each. The programme will commence after obtaining approval from the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA).
The Air Hostess training programme will offer two courses of six months and 12 months, each with 60 seats. The six-month course is priced at ₹1,00,500, while the one-year diploma programme will cost ₹1,55,500. The fee includes uniforms, grooming kits and swimming training. Applications for the Air Hostess programme are open until July 30 through the official website of the Jharkhand Flying Institute.
Jharkhand Flying Institute Managing Director Captain S.P. Sinha said the initiative, launched under the guidance of the Chief Minister, aims to create new career opportunities for the state’s youth in the aviation sector. He described the programmes as a milestone for Jharkhand that would help develop a skilled workforce for India’s rapidly expanding aviation industry.
