Ranchi/Lohardaga, July 17: The National Investigation Agency (NIA) on Thursday carried out simultaneous searches at six locations across Ranchi and Lohardaga as part of its ongoing investigation into the June 16 petrol bomb attack on the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) office in Ranchi.

The coordinated operation included a search at the rented residence of accused Sayam Sujan in Ranchi’s Pathalkudwa area, while five other locations were raided in Lohardaga beginning around 4 a.m.

In a notable operation at New Azad Basti (Qureshi Mohalla/Khet Mohalla) in Lohardaga, NIA officials used a municipal council hydraulic bucket to access the first floor of accused Aman Ansari’s locked house before conducting a detailed search. Tight security arrangements were maintained throughout the operation.

During the searches, investigators examined and seized mobile phones, digital devices, documents and other materials from the residences of Aman Ansari and Saif Ansari. The agency also searched the residence of Aman Ansari’s lawyer as part of the investigation.

According to officials, the raids yielded important information and scientific evidence, which are expected to aid the ongoing probe into the attack.

The petrol bomb attack on the RSS office took place at 12:36 a.m. on June 16, following which an FIR was registered at Chutia Police Station on June 17. The NIA formally took over the investigation on June 20.

The investigation is being led by ASP Amarendra Kumar Tiwari, who has been overseeing the case since it was transferred to the central agency.

The NIA has already taken the three accused—Aman Ansari, Saif Ansari and Sayam Sujan—into remand and questioned them in connection with the case.

Officials said the evidence collected during the latest searches will be analysed as investigators continue to probe the alleged conspiracy and identify all those involved in the attack on the RSS office.
