Ranchi, July 15: Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren has directed the Deoghar district administration to provide immediate assistance to a young widow and ensure that her family receives all eligible government welfare benefits after learning about her financial distress.
The woman, identified as Pato Devi, 22, is a resident of Sarath block in Deoghar district. She has been struggling to support her two-and-a-half-year-old twin children following the death of her husband, Charaku Mandi, on April 8, 2026.
According to official information, the family’s financial condition deteriorated significantly after the death of the sole earning member.
Pato Devi has since been solely responsible for raising her children and managing the household with limited resources.
Taking immediate cognisance of the matter, Chief Minister Soren instructed the Deputy Commissioner of Deoghar to conduct a detailed assessment of the family’s situation.
He also directed officials to ensure that the widow and her children are provided with all government welfare benefits and social security schemes for which they are eligible without delay.
The Chief Minister further asked district officials to extend all possible humanitarian and administrative support to the family to help them cope with their financial challenges and improve their living conditions.
The state government said the administration has been asked to act promptly so that the family receives timely assistance and access to available welfare programmes.
