Ranchi, July 14: Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren on Monday paid his last respects to former state minister Mannan Mallik, who passed away earlier in the day after a prolonged illness.
The Chief Minister described his death as an irreparable loss to the state and remembered him as a dedicated public servant who worked tirelessly for the people.
Accompanied by his wife and MLA Kalpana Soren, the Chief Minister visited the Jharkhand Legislative Assembly in Ranchi, where the mortal remains of the late leader were kept.
The couple offered floral tributes and observed a moment of silence in his memory.
Expressing his condolences, Soren prayed for eternal peace for the departed soul and strength for the bereaved family, supporters, and well-wishers to cope with the loss.
In his condolence message, the Chief Minister said Mannan Mallik had remained actively engaged in public life for several years and consistently worked to raise the concerns of the people of Jharkhand, particularly those from Dhanbad.
He said the state had lost an experienced public representative and a leader deeply committed to public welfare and social causes.
Following the tribute, Hemant Soren and Kalpana Soren met the late leader’s family members and conveyed their heartfelt sympathies, assuring them of their support during the difficult time.
According to official sources, Mannan Mallik had been undergoing treatment for an illness for some time. He passed away at a private hospital in Ranchi on Monday morning.
His demise has been widely mourned, with political leaders and members of the public remembering his long-standing contribution to public service and the development of Jharkhand.
