Ranchi, July 8: The Jharkhand government has released funds for the construction and renovation of stadiums in Latehar, Khunti and Deoghar districts as part of its efforts to strengthen sports infrastructure across the state.
The Department of Tourism, Arts, Culture, Sports and Youth Affairs has allocated funds for multiple projects, with Department Secretary Mukesh Kumar informing the deputy commissioners of the concerned districts about the releases and administrative approvals.
In Latehar district, administrative approval of Rs 83.04 lakh has been granted for the construction of a block-level stadium at Mauja Rud in Chandwa block, against which Rs 30 lakh has been released in the first phase. An additional Rs 10.21 lakh has been allocated for the stadium project in Barwadih under the same approval.
In Khunti district, Rs 40 lakh has been sanctioned for the construction of a block-level stadium at Belsiagarh in Rania block against an administrative approval of Rs 83.04 lakh. Separately, Rs 35 lakh has been allocated for the construction of an indoor stadium at Kamta.
The department has also released Rs 30 lakh for the repair and renovation of the stadium at Palojori block in Deoghar district.
According to the department, the allocations are aimed at accelerating stadium construction and upgrading sports infrastructure to promote sporting activities and improve access to modern facilities at the grassroots level.
