Ranchi, May 05: Indian Institute of Management Ranchi has entered the QS Executive MBA Rankings for the first time in 2026, becoming the first institute from Jharkhand to feature in the global assessment of executive management programmes.
In its debut appearance, the institute was placed in the 201+ global band and ranked 33rd in the Asia-Pacific region. Among participating Indian Institutes of Management, it secured the fourth position, reflecting its growing presence in executive education.
The 2026 QS Executive MBA Global Rankings evaluate institutions across five key parameters: employer reputation (30%), thought leadership or academic reputation (25%), career outcomes (20%), executive profile (15%), and diversity (10%), reflecting an institution’s overall performance in management education.
IIM Ranchi demonstrated balanced performance across these indicators, with notable strength in career outcomes – measured through salary growth and promotions – and in executive profile, which reflects participants’ work experience and managerial exposure.
The career outcomes metric assesses return on investment for graduates, while the executive profile considers factors such as average work experience and seniority, including representation at the C-suite level. Employer reputation is derived from global recruiter surveys, and thought leadership reflects academic standing based on international perception.
The diversity parameter measures gender and international representation, aiming to capture inclusivity and global relevance in learning environments.
The institute said its inclusion in the rankings underscores its focus on industry-relevant education, employability, and leadership development for working professionals. It also highlighted ongoing efforts to strengthen employer perception and academic credibility through research, industry engagement, and global collaborations.
IIM Ranchi Director Prof. Deepak Kumar Srivastava, along with senior faculty including Prof. Manish Bansal, Prof. Raveesh Krishnankutty, Prof. Rajeev Verma, Prof. Angshuman Hazarika and Prof. Rajashekhar David, addressed a press conference marking the milestone.
The institute’s MBA (Executive) programme, designed for professionals with at least three years of work experience, spans two years and six terms. It covers core subjects such as accounting, finance, economics, marketing, operations, strategy, and organisational behaviour, alongside electives.
The programme follows a hybrid delivery model, combining weekend online modules with residential campus sessions at the end of each term. The structure is aimed at allowing participants to balance professional commitments with academic engagement while maintaining campus interaction.
The ranking debut marks a step in IIM Ranchi’s efforts to expand its global footprint and position itself as a competitive business school in executive education.
