Colombo, Jan 8: Sri Lanka’s Department of Examinations has confirmed revised dates for the remaining papers of the 2025 General Certificate of Education Advanced Level (GCE A/L) examination, which were deferred earlier due to severe weather-related disruptions.
According to the Department, the postponed subjects will be conducted from January 12 to January 20, 2026, with authorities stating that the examination timetable will proceed without further changes.
Commissioner General of Examinations Indika Kumari Liyanage said comprehensive arrangements have been finalized to ensure the smooth conduct of the examinations. She noted that exams will be held at 2,086 examination centres across the island, supported by 325 coordination centres and 32 regional collection centres.
The examinations were temporarily suspended following adverse weather conditions linked to Cyclone Ditwa, which affected several regions and posed logistical and safety challenges for candidates and officials.
The Department of Examinations assured candidates and parents that all necessary coordination mechanisms are now in place, and urged students to sit for the remaining papers according to the revised schedule.
