Colombo, Jan 7: Driving licence issuance services at the Hambantota District Office of the Department of Motor Traffic (DMT) were disrupted on Tuesday following a technical failure affecting communication systems at the Hambantota Administrative Complex.
Officials confirmed that a malfunction in telephone connectivity has halted the online licence issuance process, preventing the office from carrying out its routine daily services. The interruption is purely technical and does not involve administrative or staffing-related issues.
Authorities said corrective measures are currently in progress to upgrade and restore the affected communication line. Once the issue is resolved, normal services, including online licence issuance, are expected to resume.
The Department of Motor Traffic has requested the public to exercise patience while restoration work is completed, assuring that efforts are being made to minimize inconvenience.
