Eight-hour water cut scheduled for Colombo, Suburban areas

Colombo, Dec 20: Water supply will be disrupted for eight hours in several areas in Colombo and its suburbs on Saturday, the National Water Supply and Drainage Board (NWSDB) announced.

According to the NWSDB, the interruption will take place from 8.30 a.m. to 4.30 p.m. due to wayleaves clearing works being carried out by the Ceylon Electricity Board (CEB).

The affected areas include Colombo 01 to 15, Battaramulla, Palawatta, Hokandara, Koswatta, Thalawathugoda, Kotte, Rajagiriya, Mirihana, Madiwela, Nugegoda, Nawala, Kolonnawa, IDH, Kotikawatta, Angoda, Wallampitiya, Orugodawatta, Maharagama, Boralasgamuwa, Dehiwala, Moratuwa and Soyzapura.

The water cut is necessary to facilitate essential maintenance work aimed at ensuring the safety and smooth operation of utility infrastructure.

“The water supply will be interrupted for eight hours on Saturday from 8.30 a.m. to 4.30 p.m. due to wayleaves clearing works by the Ceylon Electricity Board,” the NWSDB said in a statement.

The Board advised consumers in the affected areas to store adequate water in advance and use water sparingly during the interruption period.
