Dubai, September 26: India’s young opener Abhishek Sharma has scripted history in the ongoing T20 Asia Cup 2025, overtaking Virat Kohli and Mohammad Rizwan to become the highest run-scorer in a single edition of the tournament.
Rizwan had set the benchmark in 2022 with 281 runs in six matches for Pakistan, while Kohli followed with 276 runs in five outings.
Abhishek, however, went past both legends on Friday in spectacular fashion, smashing a towering six off Sri Lanka’s Dushmantha Chameera to cross the milestone.

The 25-year-old eventually scored a quickfire 61 from just 31 deliveries before being dismissed in the ninth over. Despite missing out on a century once again, his knock reflected the blistering form he has displayed throughout the competition.
Abhishek now has 309 runs in six innings, boasting a strike rate of over 200 and an average above 50.
His consistency has been one of the biggest strengths of India’s campaign, with back-to-back fifties against Pakistan and Bangladesh already under his belt.
With India securing their place in the final, Abhishek will look to continue his golden run when the Men in Blue lock horns with arch-rivals Pakistan on Sunday at the Dubai International Stadium.
