Jamshedpur, September 1: XLRI – Xavier School of Management, Jamshedpur, hosted Eveready Industries India Ltd Chief Executive Officer Anirban Banerjee on Monday for a session on “Transforming Legacy,” where he urged future business leaders to balance tradition with innovation to sustain growth.
Banerjee told students that while legacy brands enjoy strength and recognition, they risk stagnation if they fail to reinvent. “Survival in business is never guaranteed, even for industry leaders. Reinvention, agility and continuous alignment with evolving consumer preferences are essential to thrive in today’s market,” he said.
Citing Eveready’s recent transformation, Banerjee pointed to the company’s efforts to leverage its distribution network while repositioning itself to appeal to younger consumers. He also highlighted the social inclusion initiative #AawazUthaneyKaPower, developed with India Signing Hands, aimed at making products more accessible to the deaf community.
The event, organised in collaboration with XLRI’s PGDM (General Management) cohort, concluded with contributions from Saurabh Naskar and Joseph Thomas, who added perspectives on leadership and brand stewardship.
Students said the interaction deepened their understanding of strategic agility and inclusive business models. Prof. Sunil Sarangi, representing XLRI, thanked Banerjee for sharing his insights and presented him with a token of appreciation.
The session reaffirmed XLRI’s commitment to developing leaders who can integrate legacy, innovation and inclusivity into their careers.
