Chakradharpur, Sept 17: A woman from Uttar Pradesh was found dead with suspected sharp-weapon injuries inside her rented accommodation in Chakradharpur of Jharkhand’s West Singhbhum district on Thursday, with police detaining a man who was reportedly present at the house.
The deceased was identified as Anita Bind, a native of Mirzapur in Uttar Pradesh. She had reportedly shifted to the rented accommodation around 15 days ago and was working as a supervisor at the Women and Child Development Project Office in Sonua block.
According to the landlord, Sanjay Kumar Sav, he noticed a man entering Anita’s room under suspicious circumstances and questioned him. The man identified himself as Anil Kumar Bind and reportedly claimed that he knew Anita and had come to meet her.
The landlord subsequently checked the room and found Anita lying on the floor in a pool of blood. She had sustained injuries apparently caused by a sharp-edged weapon.
Following the incident, police reached the spot and detained the man for questioning. He was later identified as a resident of Mirzapur.
Investigators are examining the circumstances surrounding Anita’s death, including her relationship with the detained man and his presence at the house when the incident occurred.
Police are also probing whether a personal relationship was linked to the incident, though the exact motive has not yet been established.The woman’s body was taken into police custody for further legal proceedings.
Investigators are examining available evidence and witness accounts to establish the sequence of events and determine the circumstances that led to her death.
