Ranchi, May 14: A delegation from the Vishwa Bharati Janseva Sansthan on Tuesday urged Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren to initiate steps to help recover funds invested by people in Sahara India, the Chief Minister’s Office said in a statement.

The delegation, which met Soren at his residential office in Ranchi, called for the formation of an inquiry commission and requested that the state government file an intervention petition in the Supreme Court in connection with the long-pending Sahara investors’ issue.

The Chief Minister said the state government will take appropriate legal action in this matter, according to the official press release.

Among those present at the meeting were Nagendra Kumar Kushwaha, National Secretary of the organisation, Joint Secretary Ashok Kumar Ram, Deputy Secretary Praveen Kumar Srivastava and Regina Suchita Kachhap.

Sahara India, once a sprawling conglomerate, has been under regulatory scrutiny for years over investor dues. The Supreme Court has been overseeing the recovery and repayment process through the Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI), but delays have triggered concerns and calls for state-level intervention.
