Ranchi, Oct 28: Jharkhand Governor Santosh Kumar Gangwar on Wednesday inaugurated a newly constructed information centre at Deepshikha, an organisation based in Namkum, Ranchi, and announced a grant of ₹1 lakh from his discretionary fund to support its work.
During the visit, the Governor observed the organisation’s activities and interacted with children, encouraging them. He also congratulated the Deepshikha team and appreciated its efforts towards the empowerment of persons with disabilities.
Gangwar said persons with disabilities possess immense talent and potential and can achieve remarkable success across various fields when provided with appropriate opportunities and a supportive environment.
He emphasised the need to ensure equal opportunities in education, skill development, healthcare, sports, employment and social participation to promote their holistic development. Such measures, he said, would help persons with disabilities become self-reliant and contribute actively to society and the nation.
The Governor further said ensuring dignity, equal opportunities and self-reliance for persons with disabilities was a collective responsibility. He called for coordinated efforts by the government, administration, social organisations and citizens to create an inclusive environment for them.
