Giridih, Aug 14: A BJP worker was found dead along a roadside in Jharkhand’s Giridih district on Friday, with police suspecting that he was murdered, a senior officer said.
The deceased was identified as Mithilesh Yadav, a resident of Hesla village under Bagodar police station limits. His body was recovered from Kapsa More on National Highway-19, police said.
Bagodar SDPO Dhananjay Ram said preliminary examination indicated injuries on Yadav’s head, raising suspicion that he was attacked with an iron rod or shot.
“Prima facie, it seems the man was attacked with an iron rod or shot dead, as some injuries were found on his head,” Ram said.
The body was subsequently sent to Giridih Sadar Hospital for post-mortem examination, the officer said.
Police have launched a detailed investigation to ascertain the circumstances surrounding the death and identify those responsible. Further details will emerge after the post-mortem examination and investigation, officials said.
Reacting to the incident, Bagodar BJP MLA Nagendra Mahto said Yadav was an active party worker and demanded the immediate arrest of those responsible for his death.
Police are examining the circumstances leading to the recovery of the body and other evidence as part of the investigation.
