RANCHI, Aug 16: Students protesting alleged irregularities in recruitment examinations in Jharkhand have urged Congress leader Rahul Gandhi to withdraw support from the JMM-led state government if Chief Minister Hemant Soren fails to address their concerns.
The demand was raised by members of the JPSC-JSSC Reforms Manch during their ongoing protest against alleged irregularities in recruitment examinations conducted in the state.
“We also demand that Congress leader Rahul Gandhi withdraw support from the JMM-led coalition if the CM is not listening to him,” JPSC-JSSC Reforms Manch leader Ravindra Paswan said.
The protesters accused the ruling JMM-Congress alliance of playing politics over their demands and said the government had failed to adequately address concerns raised by students regarding the recruitment process.
The students have been seeking reforms and greater transparency in recruitment examinations conducted by the Jharkhand Public Service Commission (JPSC) and Jharkhand Staff Selection Commission (JSSC).
The protesters have also announced plans to gherao Chief Minister Hemant Soren’s residence on August 20 and are seeking his resignation over the issue.
The agitation comes amid continuing demands from students for corrective measures in the recruitment examination system and action over alleged irregularities.
The protesters said they would intensify their campaign if their demands were not addressed by the state government.
