Ranchi, Nov 6: Jharkhand Governor Santosh Kumar Gangwar on Friday encouraged students from Gumla to pursue their ambitions with dedication and use their talents to contribute to the development of the state and the country, saying that talent is not limited by geographical boundaries.

Interacting with meritorious and creative students associated with the Creative Unique Discovery Platform, Gumla, at Lok Bhavan, Gangwar said children from small towns, villages and remote areas could achieve remarkable success through hard work and determination.

The Governor said he had visited Gumla several times and interacted with students and villagers, besides visiting the Gumla Science Centre. He noted that the district was known for its rich tribal culture, traditions and natural features, adding that its young population had immense potential for creativity and achievement.

Emphasising the importance of education, Gangwar said it was the most effective means of improving lives and achieving progress. While good marks in examinations were important, the purpose of education extended beyond academic scores to developing knowledge, understanding and strong values.

He urged students to set clear goals and prepare accordingly, whether they aspired to become doctors, engineers, teachers, scientists, administrative or police officers, or sportspersons.

The Governor said there were no shortcuts to success, as consistent hard work, discipline and proper use of time formed its foundation. He advised students to balance academics with sports and physical activities, limit mobile phone use and develop a habit of regular study.

He also encouraged them not to hesitate to seek help from teachers and classmates whenever they faced difficulties in understanding a subject.

Stressing the importance of character alongside achievement, Gangwar urged students to practise honesty, humility and discipline, develop a spirit of helping others, and respect their parents, teachers and society.

Referring to the vision of ‘Viksit Bharat @ 2047’, he said young people would play a crucial role in building a developed India. He called upon students to develop a sense of national responsibility from an early age and use their knowledge and abilities for the welfare of society and the country’s progress.

Gangwar urged them to bring pride to their families, society, Gumla district, Jharkhand and the nation.

On the occasion, the Governor administered an oath against addiction and cautioned students about its harmful effects on health, education, family life and future prospects. He urged young people to stay away from substance abuse and spread awareness about its consequences among their families and communities.

He called upon the students to actively contribute to the efforts to build a drug-free Jharkhand and a drug-free India.
