Jamshedpur, Sept 30: Students and staff of St. Xavier’s High School, Lupungutu, visited Loyola School, Bistupur, on Wednesday for a day-long programme featuring music, sports and activities aimed at strengthening friendship between the two institutions.
The visiting delegation was welcomed by Loyola School Rector Fr. Michael T. Raj and Principal Fr. Vinod Fernandes. St. Xavier’s High School Headmaster Fr. Kishore Lugun and Fr. Sanjay were among the members of the visiting team.The programme began with a musical performance by students of St. Xavier’s High School.
The band received appreciation for its coordination, discipline and musical presentation.The event was followed by exhibition basketball matches for boys and girls. St. Xavier’s High School won both matches, while Loyola School put up a competitive performance.
Pooja Bodra and Monty Barik were recognised as the best basketball players.An exhibition football match was also held between the two schools.
St. Xavier’s emerged victorious after an engaging contest, with Diamond Kunkal being named the best footballer.
School officials said the programme was aimed at promoting healthy competition, teamwork, mutual respect and friendship among students rather than focusing only on the results.
The programme concluded with addresses by the school heads, who encouraged students to maintain discipline, work towards excellence and develop a spirit of cooperation.
Representatives of both institutions expressed appreciation for the exchange and said such programmes provide students with opportunities to interact beyond the classroom and strengthen their bonds.
