Ranchi, Sep 27: Jharkhand on Sunday marked World Tourism Day with a special programme at the historic Audrey House in Ranchi, where Paryatak Mitras (tourist friends) and other stakeholders were felicitated for their contribution to promoting tourism in the state.
The programme began with a floral tribute to late minister Sudivya Kumar.
Tourism Secretary Mukesh Kumar said Paryatak Mitras were playing an important role at tourist destinations by providing visitors with local information, assistance and guidance.
“Paryatak Mitras are playing an important role at various tourist destinations across the state by providing visitors with local information, assistance and guidance,” Kumar said.
He also highlighted the contribution of the hotel and hospitality sector in providing better services to tourists.
Kumar said other stakeholders were helping showcase Jharkhand’s tourist destinations, natural beauty and diverse experiences to audiences in India and abroad through digital platforms and creative content.
“The felicitation was an effort to recognise the contribution of all those who are working, directly or indirectly, towards establishing Jharkhand as an attractive and memorable tourist destination,” he said.
Tourism Director Naman Priyesh Lakra said the World Tourism Day event reflected a collective commitment to giving wider recognition to Jharkhand’s natural beauty, rich cultural heritage and diverse tourism potential.
“The Tourism Department is continuously working to improve the tourism experience in the state and expand the reach of Jharkhand’s tourist destinations through the participation of local communities, Paryatak Mitras, the hotel and hospitality sector and other stakeholders,” Lakra said.
The department is working with local communities, tourism workers, hotels and other stakeholders to improve tourism experiences and expand the reach of destinations across the state.
Managing Director Prem Ranjan, department officials and representatives from the tourism sector attended the programme.
