Ranchi, Sept 25: Central Coalfields Limited (CCL) on Friday concluded its four-day 40th Zonal Mine Rescue Competition-2026 with a prize distribution ceremony at the Sangam Auditorium of the Gangotri Convention Centre at the company’s headquarters here.
The competition brought together mine rescue teams from different CCL operational areas, who participated in a series of technical, practical and physical events designed to assess their emergency-response capabilities, teamwork and knowledge of mine safety procedures.
The Barka-Sayal area team emerged as the Overall Champion. It secured second positions in the Rescue and Recovery and Relay Race events.
The Amrapali and Chandragupt area team finished second overall, recording third place in Rescue and Recovery and second positions in both First Aid Practical and Statutory events.The Argada area team secured third place overall and finished second in the Online Theory Examination.Individual awards were also presented during the ceremony.
Nadeem Rahman Alam of the Amrapali and Chandragupt team was named Overall Best Captain, while Sachchidanand Kumar of the Argada team received the Second Best Captain award.Hitesh Jha of the Kuju team was adjudged Best Member, while Manish Kumar Singh of the Barka-Sayal team received the Second Best Member award.
Addressing the gathering, Deputy Director General of the Directorate General of Mines Safety (South-East), Dr Shyam Sundar Prasad, praised the participating teams and stressed the need to incorporate modern technologies into mine rescue operations.
He also shared suggestions for the successful conduct of the upcoming All India Mine Rescue Competition-2026.CCL CMD Nilendu Kumar Singh appreciated the dedication, discipline and team spirit demonstrated by the participants. He said mine rescue personnel play a vital role in ensuring safety in the mining sector and underlined the company’s commitment to strengthening rescue preparedness.
The closing ceremony was attended by senior CCL officials, representatives of the Directorate General of Mines Safety, judges, mine-safety personnel and employees.Students of Kendriya Vidyalaya, CCL Rajendra Nagar, also presented a welcome song, dance and drama during the programme.
The competition provided participating rescue teams with an opportunity to demonstrate their skills in emergency response, first aid, statutory knowledge, theoretical understanding and coordinated rescue operations.
The event concluded with a vote of thanks by Amarendra Kumar, Superintendent of the Mine Rescue Centre, Ramgarh. CCL officials said the competition helped strengthen preparedness and promote effective coordination among mine rescue teams.
