Ranchi, Sep 21 : Campaigning for the second and final phase of the Jharkhand Assembly elections is set to conclude on Monday evening, with leaders of major political parties intensifying rallies and public meetings across the state.
BJP president J P Nadda was scheduled to address election rallies in Gomia, Sindri and Nala on Sunday, while Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) leader and Chief Minister Hemant Soren was scheduled to address multiple rallies as part of the final push for votes.
Congress leaders were also scheduled to campaign across the state, while RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav was set to address a gathering in Dhanbad. Several BJP leaders, including Shivraj Singh Chouhan, Himanta Biswa Sarma and Champai Soren, were also campaigning for NDA candidates. Leaders of the AJSU Party and Left parties were holding rallies and roadshows in different constituencies.
The campaign has seen leaders of rival political alliances highlight different issues and level allegations against their opponents. BJP leaders have criticised the JMM-led government, while Soren and other opposition leaders have raised issues concerning the state’s development and governance.
The second phase will cover 38 Assembly constituencies, with polling scheduled for November 20. The first phase, covering 43 constituencies, was held on November 13.
According to the Election Commission’s schedule, counting of votes for all 81 Assembly constituencies will take place on November 23.
The Jharkhand election has emerged as a contest involving the BJP-led NDA and the JMM-led INDIA bloc, along with other political parties and candidates. The final phase will determine voting across the remaining 38 constituencies before the results are declared later in the week.
