Giridih, Sept 17: Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren on Thursday visited Harsinghrayadih in Giridih and attended the Dwadashakarma ceremony of former state minister Sudivya Kumar Sonu.Soren reached Sonu’s residence and paid floral tribute to the late leader by offering flowers at his portrait.
He also met members of the bereaved family, including Sonu’s wife, son and daughter, and conveyed his condolences.
Speaking to reporters, Soren recalled Sonu’s contribution to public life and described his untimely death as a major loss for the state. He said Sonu had remained actively involved in public affairs during his tenure as a minister and had contributed to various areas of governance.
The Chief Minister said that people from different political backgrounds had gathered for the ceremony, reflecting the respect the late leader had earned among various sections of society.Soren said Sonu’s public service and commitment would continue to be remembered even after his death.
He also prayed for peace for the departed soul and strength for the bereaved family.
JMM leader and MLA Kalpana Soren also paid tribute to the late minister and met his family members to express her condolences.Several ministers, Rajya Sabha members, MLAs, senior government officials, district administration officials, public representatives and local residents attended the ceremony and paid their respects to the former minister.
The gathering was marked by condolences and remembrance as political leaders, officials, supporters and members of the local community came together to honour Sudivya Kumar Sonu.
