Ranchi, Sept 12: The Federation of Jharkhand Chamber of Commerce and Industries (FJCCI) on Saturday highlighted its efforts to attract investment, promote industry and create employment opportunities in the state, as its 62nd Annual General Meeting (AGM) reviewed the organisation’s activities and achievements during the year.
The AGM, chaired by FJCCI president Aditya Malhotra, was attended by 156 members, including representatives of affiliated chambers from Sahibganj, Godda, Jamtara, Madhupur, Ramgarh, Pakur, Bokaro, Gumla and Mahagama, besides businessmen, entrepreneurs and professionals.
Secretary General Rohit Agrawal presented the Federation’s annual activity report, which was unanimously approved by the members. Treasurer Anil Agrawal presented the balance sheet and income-expenditure statement for 2025-26, which was passed through a voice vote. The general body also unanimously reappointed M/s JN Agrawal & Company as the Chamber’s auditor for another year.
Addressing the gathering, Malhotra described 2026 as a landmark year for the Federation, particularly highlighting its participation in the World Economic Forum in Davos for the first time as part of the official Jharkhand government delegation.
“2026 had been a year of significant achievements in the history of the Federation,” Malhotra said.
He said Jharkhand’s industrial potential and investment opportunities were showcased at the global forum, while the Federation also intensified its outreach to international investors.
According to Malhotra, the FJCCI contacted the embassies of 114 countries to promote investment and trade in Jharkhand and also signed MoUs with reputed institutions. It also worked to facilitate business opportunities linked to delegations from Singapore and Japan.
The Federation also pursued issues concerning regularisation of unauthorised buildings, problems faced by agricultural markets and industrial areas, banking facilities and business security. Its efforts to keep the Pandra agricultural market free from counting-related activities were also highlighted.
Malhotra said sustained efforts by the Federation towards establishment of an IT Park and NIFT in Jharkhand had yielded positive results.
“Our goal is to make Jharkhand a leading destination in the country for investment, industry, employment and new technology,” he said.
Reflecting on his tenure, Malhotra thanked the business and industrial community, state government, district administration and media for their support. He also expressed gratitude to his family and remembered his late father, Sudarshan Kumar Malhotra.
“The interests of the Federation have always remained my highest priority and will continue to do so,” he said.
Malhotra said his decade-long association with the Federation had been an important journey of his life, marked by challenges, achievements and the support of colleagues.
“In this long journey, I faced many challenges, became part of numerous achievements and, most importantly, received the affection, trust and warmth of countless colleagues,” he said.
Members present at the AGM stood up and applauded Malhotra, appreciating his tenure and the work undertaken by the Federation during the session.
Meanwhile, preparations for the FJCCI elections were also discussed. Election officers Anchal Kinger and Pawan Sharma said polling would take place on Sunday from 9 am to 5 pm at Marwari Bhawan, Harmu Road, followed by counting of votes and declaration of results.
Three regional vice-presidents have already been elected unopposed — Amarjit Singh Saluja from Koylanchal, Vijay Anand Munka from Kolhan and Vinay Kumar Agrawal from North Chotanagpur.
Elections will also be held for 21 executive committee members and regional vice-presidents of the Palamu, South Chotanagpur and Santhal Pargana divisions.
Pawan Sharma appealed to members to ensure that the election was conducted peacefully and without disrupting city traffic.
“We appeal to all members to cooperate in ensuring that the election is conducted peacefully,” he said.
He also urged members to use public transport, bicycles or walk to the polling venue as far as possible.
“To ensure that city traffic is not affected, members should come to the polling venue as far as possible by walking, bicycle or public transport,” Sharma said.
