New Delhi, Aug 11: AAP national convenor Arvind Kejriwal on Tuesday extended support to the ongoing student agitation in Jharkhand, urging the state government to immediately address the protesters’ demands and condemning the use of force against them.
In a post on X, Kejriwal said he supported the demands of the protesting students and appealed to the government to resolve their grievances without delay.
“I support the demands of the protesting students in Jharkhand and appeal to the government to resolve their issues immediately,” he said.
“Violence against students is simply unacceptable,” Kejriwal added.
The students have been protesting in Jharkhand since July 25, demanding comprehensive reforms in the functioning of the Jharkhand Public Service Commission (JPSC) and Jharkhand Staff Selection Commission (JSSC), besides seeking cancellation of several recruitment examinations.
The agitation intensified on Monday when police used water cannons, tear gas and lathis to prevent protesters from marching towards the Jharkhand Assembly.
Kejriwal’s intervention comes amid the continuing standoff between the protesting students and the state government, with the AAP leader calling for dialogue and an immediate resolution of the issues rather than confrontation.
The Jharkhand student movement has emerged as a major political issue, with opposition leaders and political figures voicing concerns over the handling of the protests and alleged irregularities in recruitment examinations.
